Technology Growth
Because of the technological advantages that we have in my current district, which include an ELMO, Promethean Board, and four classroom computers, we will be able to utilize technology in an engaging, meaningful way. Students will be able to use technology to their own advantage in many ways. They will create meaningful projects and capture engaging performance assessments. They will become life-long learners of how to understand and utilize technology through our classroom assignments and assessments. Finally, they will hear and interact with authentic language and culture on a daily basis within and outside the constructs of the classroom.
Over the next year, I plan to organize a website called New Student Academy for students who have entered school in the middle of the year to catch up to the students in Spanish class. The students will use this website to have a better grasp on the language that students in the class have already learned; so they can feel more comfortable in the classroom. This will also be able to help students’ parents who want to freshen up their language skills to help their students in Spanish class, to get ready to take a vacation, or just to learn another language.
Another exciting plan I will implement will be a blog that will act as an annotated links page for other World Language teachers. This will help me use my knowledge for the good of all World Language teachers. I plan to have this in place by December, 2010 and have it established in the World Language educator world a year later. That blog is available at the following link: http://www.edtechandlanguage.com/.
Throughout my educational career, I will continue to study about the uses of technology in the education arena, as well as specifically in the area of World Language and Educational Technology.
